ITEP is a flagship programme of Govt. of India launched country wide with a mission to upgrade quality of Teacher Education. NCTE adapted resolution to introduce ITEP in 26th October 2021 to launch the 4 year Degree Programme. The Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) is a pioneering four-year undergraduate degree designed to prepare passionate, qualified, and professionally trained teachers for the new school structure outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This dual-major holistic degree combines education with a specialized subject such as language, science, mathematics, social sciences, or commerce, enabling students to develop deep disciplinary knowledge alongside cutting-edge pedagogical skills. ITEP aims to equip future teachers to effectively design and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences across all four stages of school education—Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary (5+3+3+4 structure).
The programme emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, integrating content knowledge with foundational literacy and numeracy, early childhood care and education, inclusive education, and an understanding of India’s values, ethos, and traditions. It also fosters continuous professional development, innovation, and research, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet 21st-century learning skills. By offering a comprehensive curriculum that balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, including internships and community engagement, ITEP promises to transform teacher education and contribute significantly to revitalization of the teaching profession. The programme is currently offered with admissions conducted by NTA, and is set to become the minimum qualification for school-teachers by 2030. Rajdhani College, Bhubaneswar is set to offer ITEP (Secondary) from the session 2025-26 with B.A B.Ed & B.Com B.Ed. The programme will be run with the eligible admitted candidates selected through National Level Test. The college will offer a suitable ambience and learning environment to match with the National Standards.
